When a writer/musician and an illustrator relocated from the city to a quiet home bordering Forest Park, they envisioned a space to support their creative collaboration on a children’s book set in the surrounding woods. S. Baird Design helped them purchase the home and designed an addition to meet their needs—a two-story studio tucked above and within a detached garage.
Upstairs, the studio features vaulted ceilings, reclaimed flooring, and abundant natural light from skylights and windows, offering inspiration and tranquility.
Details include storage tucked into the eaves and a pellet stove for warmth and charm. Downstairs, the writing and music studio provides a quiet workspace connected to nature. A stairwell-turned-library with fir flooring and a cozy reading bench completes this artistic retreat.
