IRVINGTON GUESTHOUSE

PORTLAND, OR

A FRESH CHAPTER IN A HISTORIC SPACE

When our clients purchased the house next door, their dream was clear: to create a warm, welcoming guesthouse for friends and family visiting from overseas.

Nestled in Portland’s Irvington neighborhood—a designated historic district—this 1904 home came with both charm and challenge. Heavily altered by a 1970s remodel, it had lost much of its original soul.

In 2017, we took the house down to the studs, carefully restoring its historic exterior and preserving a selection of original windows.

Inside, we redefined the layout completely.

Now, the interiors are airy and open, touched with modern elegance and simplicity. The space is partially furnished, intentionally leaving room for each guest to make it their own—a true home away from home, rich in comfort and possibility.
